University of Erfurt

uni1

The University of Erfurt is one the youngest and oldest German universities simultaneously. The history goes back to the Middle Ages. The University was founded in 1392 as the third university and kept up the teaching until 1816. After the Wende of 1994 she was re-founded and opens today their classrooms for nearly 5,000 students.

The campus, located in the north of the city of Erfurt, has many free-standing buildings. The alarm detection technology, especially the fire detection technology was adapted to the requirements. A major modification was based on a comprehensive fire protection plan. The various BMZ manufaturers had no uniform system networking. All events of the BMZ were displayed and forwarded by IFAM products over the fire brigade peripherals.

Starting point

  •  14 buildings with different equipment of fire detection technology
  •  3 different FCP manufacturers
  •  7 different central fire alarm systems
  •  Confusing locations of the objects on the campus
  •  Alarming was made via object-based Aufschaltungen and by an assisting body (gatekeeper)
  •  incomplete monitoring in building transitions

Aim

  •  Modern fire protection plan for the entire campus in various configuration levels
  •  Technically fire alarm monitoring
  •  Fullfillment of the TAB BFW Erfurt
  •  Optimizing of operational and fire fighting tactics
  •  One main point of attack
  •  Interconnection of different FCP of one manufacturer (z. B. SecuriPro with Integral)
  •  Interconnection of FCP of different manufacturers (z. B. ESSER, Notifier)
  •  Modern information tools such as FAT with history function
  •  LWL connection
  •  Reduction of ÜE connections

Solution / Realization

  •  Expansion and modernization of the line paths
  •  New network topology for all buildings
  •  Interconnection of the fire detection peripherals
  •  Use of bus-compatible devices and information resources (FAT, FBF)
  •  Ensuring the compliance with DIN EN 54, DIN 14661, DIN 14662, DIN 14675 and DIN 14674
  •  Consideration of VdS 2878 and VdS 3531
  •  Offset-System for the existing detector groups / detector-numbering and the corresponding Feuerwehrlaufkarten with the agreement of the professional fire brigade Erfurt
