Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Current questions and answers:

ESPA4.4.4
Could the ESPA function verified without any telecommunication or call system?

A PC-software "ESPA tool" is on the CD, which comes with the module, or can be obtained from the website. Start the file "ESPA Tool.exe" from the PC without installation. The PC simulates the remote site. The connection is made via RS232 with the null modem cable.

FAT2002 / FAT3000
How can I shut down the buzzer on FAT2002 / FAT3000 temporarily? (for example, revision operation)

By simultaneously pressing the keys "level" and "backward" for at least 5 Seconds the FAT internal buzzer is disabled. The note "maintenance mode - buzzer turned off" appears in the FAT display. By repeated pressing the two keys "layer" and "backward" the buzzer will be activated again. 12 hours after the activation of the maintenance mode, the buzzer is turned on automatically.

FAT2002 / FAT3000
How can I disable the display of faults and shutdowns on FAT2002 / FAT3000?

The messages, which are displayed at the FAT, can be edited in the menu: \configuration\code-table of the programming software FATProgWin. Highlight the visible rows of the column "meaning" for "fault" or "shutdown" and press then the button "reset".

FAT2002
The FAT2002 not automatically switch to the programming mode.

Check the following:
1.) The supplied null-modem cable is not used. Check the null-modem cable. Pin 4 of one socket must be wired to pin 6 of the other socket. Info: Control cables are used to switch to the programming operation mode.
2.) In the menu of FATProgWin: Check the PC settings, that the correct COM interface was selected for data transmission to the FAT.
3.) If you use the ESPA function at the FAT: If the ESPA function in the FAT is activated, the automatic switching to the programming operation mode is diabled. Then proceed as follows: If the following message appear in the PC dialog window: „Wenn das FAT in den Programmiermodus geschaltet hat, betätigen Sie OK“, then press the reset key at the FAT. After that click "ok".

FAT2002 / FAT3000
FAT can not be programmed. FATProgWin reports: „Failure sendingn SOC: Time-Out!".

1.) Check in the FATProgWin menu: \transfer\PC-settings, whether the correct COM interface for data transmission to the FAT was selected and the baud rate is set to 57600, no parity.
2.) If a USB-serial-converter is used, then this is obviously not compatible for data transmission to the FAT. Note: A compatible USB-serial-converter you can find in our product range.

FAT2002
The FAT was connected to a BMZ Tyco - Expert and produces communication errors approximately every 30 seconds.

Update the firmware release and the configuration file. Latest firmware with corresponding configuration file were adapted to the new firmware releases of the BMZ Expert.

FAT2002 RE
FAT shows no messages and the diagnostic LEDs at the DUAL485 modul are both off.

You have used a non-redundant version of a FAT configuration file or changed the settings in the file therefor. Use a configuration file named xxx_redundant.fat, which is on the CD, that comes with the FAT.

FAT3000
The year in the display of the FAT is wrong when a FAT3000 is connected to a BMZ Esser.

Correction is possible via configuration with FATProgWin. The FAT is connected to an ESSER-BMZ via TTY. In the ESSER-TTY-protocol there is no year transfered. In FATProgWin menu: \configuration\system-config press the shortcut „ALT“ + „E“. Then set the parameter „lkgdisp“ to „128“ and press „OK“. Save the configuration to the FAT. Now the date at the FAT is identical to the BMZ-display without year.

FAT3000
In testing the ESPA-communication only undefined characters were shown in the ESPA-tool, although the FAT configuration file is programmed correctly.

Check the DIP-switches at the FAT3000. Set DIP-switches 1 + 2 at S1 and DIP-switch 4 at S2 to ON. DIPs on FAT3000 could have been in FBF2003-serial operation.

FAT3000
FAT and BMZ without communication error. The time is now properly applied by the BMZ. Messages are not displayed on FAT.

Check the firmware releases at the FAT and at the redundant adapter. The firmware release of both devices should be identical. Different firmware releases of FAT and ADP can lead to incompatibility.

FAT3000 / IMT4CPU
An IMT4CPU was connected to a FAT3000. No communication between IMT4CPU and FAT3000, although diagnostic LEDs indicate the communication.

In FATProgWin check the FAT configuration file. In the „System3000“ dialog under the tab „SIO“ the protocol „PCTAB“ or „PCTAB/ IMT4CPU“ must be selected.

FAT2002 / FAT3000
The FAT is connected to a BMZ Esser, but shows not all messages of the BMZ.

The reason for this is the limited log buffer of the ESSER BMZ. The BMZ limits and sorts its messages prior the transmission to the FAT. If there are many messages (for example: many shutdowns at startup), the messages at the fat will become visible too late or will be invisible.

FAT3000-Grafik
Graphic capable FAT3000 shows only 2 lines for each message in the display.

Check the configuration files of the FAT and the redundant adapter. In FATProgWin in the dialog „system-config“ the item „3 lines for each message“ must be selected for both devices.

FBF2001
FBF2001 at Esser BMZ: „fire control down“ does not work.

Note the different interface of FBF2001 and FBF2001E. The Klemmbelegungen of the two panels are not identical.

SDA3000
SD-alarm is displayed immediately at the SDA3000 after opening the key depot.

Check in case of closed FSD with deposited fire brigade key:
1.) Can you measure about 2.2 kOhm between Pin 1 (white) and Pin 2 (brown) of the FSD? If not, please check cabling, 2,2 kOhm resistor, door contact, Aufbohrschutz and key switch contact in the FSD.
2.) Between Pin 7 (blue) and Pin 8 (red) of the FSD there should not be a measurable gateway (high impedance). If a short circuit is measured, then check the switching function of the feedback contact at the FSD-lock.

SDA3000
The FSD does not unlock after Ansteuerung of the SDA3000.

The control of the SDA3000 to open the FSD is set at terminals 9 and 10 with low-active (0V) (default). If you want to control the SDA3000 at terminals 9 and 10 with high-active (+UB), you must set the switch DIP7 at the switch block S4of the SDA3000 to ON.

SDA3000
Red LED for SD-Alarm remains active even after RESET at the SDA3000.

Check the feedback contact of the door lock at he FSD. Between Pin 7 (blue) and Pin 8 (red) of the FSD there should not be a measurable gateway (high impedance). If a short circuit is measured, then check the switching function of the feedback contact at the FSD-lock.
